Exclusive to BELOWGROUND: the “HUMAN” Capsule Collection between CHARR x ASTERISK, Powered by Vans Hong Kong

BELOWGROUND is pleased to present “HUMAN”, an exclusive capsule collection between Japanese artist CHARR and Hong Kong based select store Asterisk. Purveyor of vintage and sought-after collectables, Asterisk first launched in 2015 in the heart of Hong Kong. Fast forward to the end of 2020, Asterisk became one of BELOWGROUND’s inaugural residents with its latest concept “Asterisk IDEA”.

In partnership with Vans Hong Kong, up-and-coming artist CHARR and Asterisk reimagined the iconic Vans Era silhouette alongside a series of apparel that will be part of the capsule collection, exclusively available at BELOWGROUND.

Charr Morita is a painter and illustrator based in Kagawa Prefecture inspired by street fashion, music, and skateboarding aesthetics. Known for his colorful tones and expressive portraits, he creates quirky and expressive graphics. His Instagram features icons and figures from street culture in his emblematic style; he has been commissioned by a growing roster of brands worldwide.

The space will be transformed into an exhibition space featuring works from the up-and-coming Japanese CHARR alongside the capsule collection. In partnership with local non-profit arts organisation HKWALLS, Asterisk will be hosting a series of community workshops every weekend during the pop-up duration, and will allow selected participants to reimagine their own iterations of the Vans Era sneaker.

Starting from the first of May, workshops will be held every Saturday and Sunday of May (10 days in total). Each day will feature 3 sessions with 8 participants each, and each session will last 1.5 hours. Time slots are as follows: 14:00-15:30, 16:00-17:30 & 18:00-19:30. The participants will be selected via raffles hosted on BELOWGROUND’s Instagram account. Stay tuned for upcoming raffles.
