Born in Hong Kong and raised in Sydney, artist Jessica Ng likes to wonder if all pieces of art had accompanying stories or if we, as the viewer, were supposed to create our own. As an artist, her work aims to evoke curiosity in others and allow audiences to come up with their own narratives.
For her first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, Quiet Gallery presents a series of acrylic works on canvas, entitled “ESTELLE, the girl and her stars”, created over the past 2 years. “Estelle” the protagonist of the exhibition, is a young masked girl who loves to explore. Her mask brings her comfort and confidence to blend into different environments, as she meets different creatures on her journey. When each meeting comes to an end, the precious memories are stored in the stars she collects.
A reflection of our lives, Estelle’s journey documents how relationships between people change over time, moments that are lost and the power of memories that remain.
Immerse yourself in the adventures of Estelle and her companions at the Jessica Ng solo exhibition at Quiet Gallery, showing until 23 August 2022 (Mon to Fri 11 AM – 7 PM / Sun 11 AM – 5 PM).
