Taking cues from the chaotic whirl of Tokyo, Hong Kong-based artist LOUSY presents a series of new works at BELOWGROUND.
LOUSY discovered the city’s free subway maps and became intrigued by the complexity of textures and colours found within them. Utilising these as canvas, the artist’s signature motifs are overlaid upon subway maps using solid marker pens that workers use on construction sites- yet another recollection of the magnetic force of the cityscape and the energy of the street.

Born in the 1980s, LOUSY works extensively outdoors, with his artistic footprint forming an iconic part of Hong Kong’s urban landscape. Taking reference from cave paintings and pop culture, his visual language comprises simplified wavy and rhythmic lines executed in a bring neon palette.
“TOWERS ARE GIANT FINGERS POINTING TO HEAVEN” is on show at BELOWGROUND from 13 July to 26 July,2024
