Following a residency in partnership with Asterisk, Morgan Tam returns to BELOWGROUND with a tattoo studio entitled “Cruel Touch.”
The rising Hong Kong-based tattoo artist welcomes clients into her purple-fuelled world. Decorated with dragon, sword and bleeding skulls, the sequestered studio is surrounded by plush velvet and underscored by evocative graphics taken from Tam’s extensive personal collection.
Those that enter the space will be reminded of haunting séance rooms of yesteryear, that complement Tam’s penchant for the macabre in her tattoo works. Her exploration of the macabre showcases the aesthetic language of ‘90s/early 2000’s tattoo styles and heritage of Hong Kong tattoo masters.
