BREAKING GROUND

Upon the occasion of Art Basel week in Hong Kong, BELOWGROUND is breaking ground with a series of new spaces and happenings uniting the creative community.

Bringing together homegrown talents Casetify, Quiet Gallery, Victoria and Yeti Out as well as international collaborators Ambush, Archive Editions, Billionaire Boys Club, Michael Dupouy, Tyrrell Winston and Verdy, the event reflects the power of global inspirations and conversations. 

Focusing all happenings at BELOWGROUND in one day, activities span the range of art, fashion and culture, going from the ‘ALL GONE’ book signing with author Michael Dupouy, featuring Verdy as a special guest to a pool party hosted by Victoria x Yeti Out and powered by VANS.

‘East West Tea House’ by Archive Edition x Oscar Wang

Presenting the WE tea house to mark the launch of the first limited-edition collectible, the Dōngxī Teapot in the East West Project. Masterminded by American contemporary artist Daniel Arsham and multi-disciplinary artist Oscar Wang, the series aims to pioneer a new format for cross-cultural collaboration.

‘Double Technical’ — Solo Exhibition by Tyrrell Winston

Upon the opening of his debut exhibition in Hong Kong, American artist Tyrrell Winston make his first trip to the city, where a series of new works will be on display. Visitors are invited to explore what the artist calls the ‘embedded history’ through his found object and mixed media works.

‘fruits and flowers’ — Solo Exhibition by Masao Saito

The first solo exhibition by Japanese ‘master of super-realism’ Masai Sato in Hong Kong. Showcasing a series of flower and fruit themed works, these paintings will make you question what you see. Born 1947 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Saito became a freelance illustrator in 1968 and started to focus on flowers, fruits and vegetables in the late 70’s, with his works appearing in advertisements, magazines and product packaging.
